SPIZ, non-profit Association for Social Promotion, is pleased to announce that the long awaited Rampigada Santa will take place on Saturday, September 20th, and Sunday, September 21st 2014.

The race is one of the events of the European Mobility Week and is co-organized, as usual, with the Municipality of Trieste and with the help of the Amateur Sports Association Mappets.

SPIZ is a non-profit Association for Social Promotion founded in 2009, following the first event of the funny splash diving contest called Olympics of "Clanfe", and aims at teasing the city of Trieste and its society by organizing events that can give them liveliness, strength, critical sense and, most of all, peace and serenity.

The Rampigada Santa race was born in 2012, after a long and complex organizational path, after an idea of SPIZ's president Mauro Vascotto and of the other association's members, who work exclusively on a voluntary basis. It is meant to be an event that through sport wants to promote social commitment and to educate people to live in a more sustainable way.

Rampigada Santa 2014 is the third event and will take place throughout two days packed with events, races, stands and wine-food kiosks.

On Saturday, September 20th 2014, the Rampigada Santa Village will be set up in the "Obelisco" square: here the activities will deal with the promotion and education to sustainable mobility and life style. Moreover, it will be possible to visit the stands of the Rampigada Santa's partners, to take part in races, tests and other activities, as well as to enjoy the beautiful view from the "Obelisco" square while tasting local wine and food products. Starting at 5 pm, the local band Sardoni Barcolani Vivi will lead an extemporary jam session with all those who will bring along their friends and musical instruments and improvise on known themes, giving their music no other purpose than staying together and in peace.

On Sunday, September 21st 2014, the side events will go on at the Rampigada Santa Village. At 9.30 am the Scala Santa road will be closed to the car traffic, so that all curious supporters and fans will be allowed to climb up the road and find out that yes, we can go on foot from the city centre to the Carso plateau! At 10.00.00 sharp the 3rd Rampigada Santa 2014 will start off, the hill climb time trial by bike or on foot along the Scala Santa, an historic ascent of about 2000 meters of hairpin turns and steep slopes, all of them in cobbles (most of them original from 1800), with an average incline of 16.2% (minimal incline 10.8%, maximal incline 20%).

The 3rd Rampigada Santa 2014 is valid for the contest "Spiz Combination", a sort of an Ironman after Triestine fancy, that will award the best male and female athletes who will take part in both events organized by the Association in 2014, i.e. the 7th Olympics of Clanfe on Saturday, July 26th and, indeed, the 3rd Rampigada Santa on Sunday, September 21st 2014.
